Stepping into the light
We have two giant blossom trees outside our house that, once a year, come alive with the most vibrant pink cherry blossom. Through April and May, the single rectangle window on the upstairs landing creates the perfect frame for an ever-changing picture. Like a series of brush strokes building up on a canvas that ebb and flow. It’s our fourth Spring in this house and I can sense my anticipation of the bloom.
For me, the bloom of blossoms symbolises the promise of renewal and the cyclical nature of life. After the dormancy of winter - and my goodness the winter in Derbyshire has been a long (and very wet one) this year! - these blossoms emerge as harbingers of spring, heralding a season of growth, transformation, and new beginnings. Their fleeting beauty serves as a poignant reminder for me to cherish the present moment, a clear reminder of here today and gone tomorrow . Especially once they fall, the blooms make their way into the house, the car, the sofa and our cat Sophie’s bed.
In their delicate petals lies a kind of solace and inspiration, knowing that even in the darkest of times, there is always the promise of light and beauty on the horizon.
At the same time, I’m thinking a lot about vulnerability. As nature unfurls its delicate blossoms and tender shoots, it reveals the fragile beauty of new beginnings. The wonderful Hannah Tappenden wrote in her newsletter this month that spring is ‘most of all vulnerable.’ She says, ‘In nature, it’s incredibly risky to come into bloom. Do it too soon and a sneaky late frost might kill the plant altogether.’ And yet, it is precisely this vulnerability that lends them their exquisite beauty, reminding us that strength is often found in the most unexpected of places.
The next phase of Noble is asking me to really be vulnerable to step into the forefront and be brave. In the vulnerable embrace of what’s ahead, I’m sure to find not only fragility and uncertainty, but also strength and resilience. Knowing that even in our most vulnerable moments, we are capable of blooming brightly and embracing the fullness of who we truly are.
So, as we move into spring, I’m going to take the time to honour the season. The delicate beauty of blossoming flowers, the vibrant colours of emerging foliage, the joyful birdsong. Allowing myself to be fully present, in each moment, to savour the sights, sounds and sensations of springtime.
We have so many amazing events on our Noble Yoga calendar from April onwards. We will be travelling the UK throughout Spring and into Summer. Please follow, share, and support us on Instagram, help us spread our message and our offering to women we haven’t yet met.
So, as you see me face my fear over the next few months, of being on camera, of using social media and of coming into the light, I look forward to sharing with you a compilation of bloopers and outtakes. My Instagram video attempts could yet go viral.
Spring mantra:
“Bloom brightly.
Be vulnerable.
Step into your light.”
