Grounding in 2024
As a business owner, (I am co-founder of two businesses) a partner to Lee and a mother to Theia, I very often find myself needing to ground. It’s so easy for me to spin into a headspace that is far from nourishing.
It’s taken me many years to find an access point to this practice. I lived most of my adult life with the idea that success could only be fully achieved if I was busy, exhausted, and burnt out. A lesson I needed to learn experientially to have a reference point from which to move forwards from.
These days I am busier than I ever have been. The pressures are greater, the risks are significant, and imposter syndrome comes thick and fast. I have people who depend on me immensely, but yet I can more frequently ground with ease (not always however… sometimes it’s still an absolute shit show).
So, what helps me to ground:
Rituals. Finding 10 minutes in the kitchen in the morning, dressing gown, favourite coffee cup, daydreaming out of the window. Lighting palo santo when I’m home on my own.
Putting a record on and dancing like no one is watching.
Making space in my calendar to do nothing. No plans, but available space for whatever FEELS right in that moment, to actually BE spontaneous.
Shavasana. I never accessed this posture until I became a mum. Now 4 minutes in shavasana feels like an absolute lifetime, it’s a favourite place to visit.
Daily movement. Non-negotiable. This doesn’t mean 200 burpees, it just means moving.
Working and collaborating with people I trust. I love learning from other people. Our Noble Yoga team helps me stay focused and full of positive belief.
I’ve committed to more being, less doing in 2024. It’s a practice that honestly, I dug deep into every day of 2023. Grounding is what we at Noble Yoga are focusing on for 2024. We’ve launched new products that we hope embody this notion and that will support you in your practice to feeling the soles of your feet on the ground beneath you.
